When will i get my hair back?

It is fairly common for a telogen effluvium(hair loss) to occur in the mother several months after childbirth, resulting in the sudden and temporary loss of 30%-50% of the hair on her scalp. As a rule, during pregnancy a woman's hair is usually luxuriously textured.

This was a good website: http://www.intelihealth.com/IH/ihtIH/WSI...

I lost alot of hair after my last pregnancy. It was that bad that every time I washed my hair the drain in the shower would block.

I found that when I finished breastfeeding which was when the baby was 14 months old the problem subsided. I did not loose all my hair, it only appeared to be thin.I spoke to my doctor about it and she said that would never happen. See a specialist if it worsens. My hair has now returned to normal

Oh sweetie, I really feel for you, I know how frustrating this stage is. My hair stopped falling out when my baby turned about 6 months. she's 10 months now and about 4 weeks ago I started noticing that new hair was growing back in. Hang in there, it will grow back.

In the meantime, try to switch to a very mild shampoo and if you apply conditioner don't apply it to the top of your head, only to the bottom half of the strands. If you can skip conditioner, then go for it. Conditioner (although it's a saviour for me because I have very curly hair) can really weigh the hair down at the scalp and stresses the hair roots when you try to wash it out. Best to only apply shampoo to the roots.

If you are very concerned speak to you doctor and see if they can suggest anything.

It's so frustrating, I know, but it will get better soon. Good luck!!

When will i get my hair back?

Your hair is going through a shedding phase (called the catagen phase) due to hormones. When you are pregnant, your hair goes through the resting phase for 9 months. When your baby is around 4 to 6 months old, that is when shedding begins and it is normal. In a couple of months, you should see regrowth. Hair grows approximately 1/2 an inch a month. What you can do now is take a multivitamin that includes iron and B vitamins. Make sure your diet is healthy rich in omega fatty acids, protein, greens, fruits and dairy. If you continue to lose more hair then get your thyroid checked out by your doctor.
