Are younger generation of males having less facial hair as opposed older ones?

I have sparse beard and so do most of my peers. Is this a general trend or only a coincidence that most males in my circle of friends have this defect? From the evolution point of view, we males no longer need to grow beard in order to attract females what so ever; could it be that because it has lost its purpose, we are gradually shedding facial hair?

If you go to most Islamic countries you'll see that this doesn't apply, but people grow facial hair in different ways. Some people seem to have it all over and have to shave twice a day, whereas others might have very slow growth in many areas.

There might be some evidence of reduction, but that would take an awfully long time as in 1000's years. Also not sure if was really there to attract females, more likely just left over from our days as apes (that should annoy the creationists! :)).

Could of course be speeded up by environmental factors such as testosterone levels especially before you're born.

being 14 i obvoiusly see peoples up to 18 at my school

the people my age are more stach-ish

the 15 year olds(and some 14 year olds, including me) are light beard or "peach fuzz"

the 16 are starting to have the darker beards

and most of the 17-18 have a shadowish beard

I think it is just like sayin women grow older younger. for instance we see a young woman develop and figure "dam, I don't remember them like that at my age"

we are simply just used to seeing our peers and our own growth development.

plus everyones body is different and they fill out in different times. some rapid, some subtle

NO....I think the pressure these days on young people to be sexy, fit in, etc is so much greater. I remember thinking the same thing 20 yrs ago. some adults dont ever have a full beard or have much facial hair.

i think you are reading too much into it. there's really no way for you to tell unless you can somehow see into the past. People just like to shave more now... all the shaving commercials probably have something to do with it.
