I have just been diagnoised hypothyroid and have lost a lot of hair. once I start treatment will it

If your hair loss is due to hypothyroidism, and you get proper treatment, and follow up and get blood tests and adjust your medication as needed, then yes, your hair will stop falling out.

Yes! Once your medications have been stabilized and you have found the correct dosage, you will see your hair growing back, less of your scalp showing through your hair, and less hair in the drain after you shower.

However, if you have been losing hair for a long time, it might not all grow back. You might have male or female pattern baldness along with the thyroid problems. In this case, it will not grow back all the way.

Yes and no. Some continue to have hairloss and others don't. It really depends on your thyroid levels and medication. There are some people who have experienced more hairloss on Synthroid and others have seen improvement. If you don't see an improvement in 6-12 months think about switching to a T4/T3 medication. I switched from Levoxyl to Armour and no longer have thinning hair. Armour seems to help symptoms such as fatigue, brain fog, depression, hairloss, and muscle and joint aches.

Give your med 6-12 months though, as it just might help with the hairloss. If it doesn't, then you know there are other options.
